The new year has just started and we are already in the second twelfth! Time is going so quickly as we do interesting things!
Here is a report of main new products added in last few weeks. Enjoy!
The mbed is a super-easy-to-use rapid prototyping tool built on industry standard technology. It is a great Rapid Prototyping tool so we have decided to incorporate it also! We will further keep all the development stuff in a section called Development Boards.
We have added a new products category called Robotics. It already contains few parts for building of robots and we are going to add more stuff in future. The Dual Motor GearBox can be simply connected to Universal Plate Set and you can use Toy Tires or even Tank Treads to have your robot basically able to move...
The amount of sensors products has increased!
If you hold a magnet near the Hall Effect Sensor it will cause the output pin to toggle. This makes for a robust presence sensor. Side-looking Infrared Emitters and IR Detectors. These simple devices operate at 940nm and work well for generic IR systems including remote control and touch-less object sensing.
10K thermistor with a negative temperature coefficient presents a good choice for temp-sensing applications. The Force Sensitive Resistor will vary its resistance depending on how much pressure is being applied to the sensing area.
Analog/Digital MUX Breakout is a breakout board that can be used to connect 16 analog sources (like sensors) to 5 pins on a microcontroller. This is a great way to connect a lot of sensors to a few pins. ACS712 Breakout is a breakout board for the fully integrated Hall Effect based linear ACS712 current sensor. The sensor provides precise current measurement for both AC and DC signals.
The BlueSMiRF Gold Bluetooth Modem is suitable for wireless communication with your Arduino application or any other electronic system where the cable connection is not wanted. It can transmit over 100m distance!
These XBee modules allow also a very reliable and simple communication between microcontrollers, computers, systems, really anything with a serial port! Point to point and multi-point networks are supported. Series 2.5 improves on the power output and data protocol.
10 Farad capacitor - yes you read that correctly! This small cap can be charged up and then slowly dissipated running an entire system for hours! It seems that the battery world has a serious competitor in these tiny polcaps :-)
The following breakout board is based on LTC3588 Piezoelectric Energy Harvester from Linear Technologies. This board can be used not only for harvesting piezoelectric energy, but solar energy as well.
This is a packaged solar cell with cable and barrel plug termination. The solar cell is rated for 4.5V open voltage and 100mA short circuit.
The last product is a popular Weather Station that includes an anemometer, wind vane, and rain gauge.
